Final Hero For Our Campaign!

Last week I made a post about our Shield Maiden Dagna and our Ranger Max for our upcoming campaign in Talabecland!

Time has now come for our final hero Oswald (Ozzy) who is the Rogue of the party (and also the leader) As I wrote earlier, the heroes are bandits and part of a Thieves’ Guild, and much different than what we usually play! They aren’t murderers, but they aren’t saints either!

The miniature is the Collector’s Edition 25 Anniversary Edition Eli Quicknight from Reaper Miniatures. His hooded cloak is a bit dodgy on the pictures, but I had to seal the mini thoroughly with varnish (cloaks are really fragile when handling them throughout a campaign) it looks great in real life!

Here’s all the “heroes” in all their splendor!

The Heroes

Another Hero for our new Campaign!

Last week I made a post about our first hero for our upcoming WFRP Campaign set in Talabecland.

This time I present to you our Ranger hero! Born in Kislev and immigrated as a young lad to Empire with his father, this rugged and mysterious hero has now joined a band of thieves and thugs to lend them his expertise!

The miniature is part of the Frostgrave set “Barbarian Crow Master and Javelineer”. I had a hard time finding a suitable ranger miniature, so I picked this one and gave him a quiver and bow from a High elf set (cut off the fancy gem attached)
I painted his leather armor worn and dirty with some stitches attached from every time he rips it in battle (He has had this armor for a looong time) and whether he has ever washed his clothes, only time can smell…. I mean tell!

Next up: The Sneaker Rogue (And leader of the group)

New Campaign – New heroes!

Just finished painting the new heroes for our WFRP campaign! This time in Talabecland (the latest ones were in Middenland and Nordland) I know Cubicle 7 is going to release both a Fantasy (old style) and a Sigmarine rpg ruleset, so I’m looking very much forward to this! (not so much the Age of Sigmarine one)

Here we have our first hero; The Dwarf Shieldmaiden Dagna:

I painted her in very subtle colours (with lots of purple shades), now that the party is a shady bunch (for a change), so heroes is a vague word for them as they dabble in thieves’ guilds and much more! The miniature is the very cool Freja Fangbreaker from Reaper Miniatures (Sculpted by Werner Klocke)

Next up! The Rogue and the Ranger

A Larder Shelf fit for a king! (or anyone who enjoys food!)

Just thought I’d squeeze in this little gem I finished painting a little while ago! I’m really proud of this one and it looks amazing on the table. I’ve been trying to clean out my miniatures, and replace the standard pieces with highly detailed and converted versions, and this is one of them!

shelf_aug_01

The shelf and broom are from Thomarillion, the flasks and barrel are from Fenryll, the pouch of plums (to the left of the shelf) and the package on top are from Tabletop-World. The baskets and letuce box on the bottom are from Ristuls Workshop, the middle boxes are from Fredericus Rex, and the pile of goods in the bottom and the sack on the left is from Baueda miniatures. So a lot of customizing and a whole lot of time included in this one. My husband picked out the parts and assembled this beauty and I painted it. It took much longer than anyone would expect, but it looks great in real life!

Another Finished Commission

I just completed another commission for a Spanish friend of mine and an excellent miniature converter, who wanted 32 miniatures painted (quite a handful, but great challenge!) The commission consisted mainly of skeletons for his RPG campaign, but also a few other interesting miniatures, including some from Dark Art Studios’ Kickstarter Campaign.

Here’s some of the many skeletons I painted!

I also painted some heroes, including an undead female warrior,a goblin hero and a female dark elf.

And the miniatures from Dark Art Studios.

Here’s an overall picture of all the miniatures I painted!

Commission

Even though it was a ton of work, I really enjoyed painting these! I got to experiment with skin tones, freehand, painting fire, vivid clothing and colour choices! And I think they ended up looking pretty awesome :-D

Finished Commission

About a month ago I finished a commission for a British friend, who wanted some heroes for a Rogue Trader campaign. I believe it’s the first time I’ve ever painted a Space Marine’ish miniature (finished painting one that is) I believe it’s a Blood Angel naimed Mephiston. The other one, I’m not so sure. The woman is from Maow Miniatures – a limited edition one.

Just finished another commission for a Spanish friend of mine! Just need to get some picture taken!

Arrogant Demi-gryph rider!

Back from vacation!

I just noticed that I haven’t made a post in almost two months! Time really flies! Well, I haven’t been on vacation that long, but had several commissions and a busy schedule!

About a year ago, I converted an arrogant looking captain (a mix of demi-gryph knights and the Karl Franz/general on Griffon) with a lot of emblems and seals. He ended up taking space for quite a long time, before I recently decided to give him a paint job. I figured he needed like a white stallion and in this case a white demigryph!

Demigryph Knight

Here’s a picture I took a year ago of the work in progress (yeah, my painting sorroundings weren’t superior back then) with some mounted charactes and a Bretonnian horse just casually thrown around in the background!

But I love the pose I gave him. I can totally imagine peasants and children running over to watch the spectacular knight, and he just gives them a snobbish look!

Fishing Village and Lots of new projects to come!

As it says in the title, I am working on quite a lot of projects at the moment. Right now our main goal at home is getting the gaming room done. We are turning a guest bedroom in our house into a room designed for RPG and board games (big nerd alert!), and it’s really something! I will be making a project with WiP pictures and notes about the details.

Since getting a new house and a puppy at the same time proved to be a whole lot of work, I still managed to paint a great deal on the side! So when I get around to it, I will be adding a new project involving Forest Goblins with treehouses and lots of spider accessories + arachnarok spider and so on! Everything is converted and scratchbuilt, so it’s very unique and impressing! I just need to take a lot of pictures and come up with a name for the project.

We moved into our new house in March and we haven’t had time to play any RPG since, so we are looking very much forward to start playing again soon. And with the newly announced Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay (WFRP) 4th edition on the way, we are super excited to see what Cubicle 7 can dish up! We use or own rulebook and system, but fluff and ideas are always welcome!

The next campaign will start in a shabby fishing village (most likely in Talabecland), so we need some new props and terrain for such place. The village is influenced by Flotsam from Witcher 2 video game, which suits our grim and perilous playstyle.

House Boat docked at the village

Permantly docked is this ship from Thomarillion, which has been completely covered in various bits and pieces. My husband is the genius behind the conversion (I just painted it!), so credit really goes to him. He used several stacked crates and barrels from Tabletop-Art, pieces from Lake Town set from Games Workshop, Ristul’s Market, Freebooter boat accessories, some jewelry and much, much more from our bits boxes. The mast is scratch-built with some string/rope attached!

Here is a few Work in Progress of the ship

For the Boat and some of the wooden barrels I used this combo of Blackened Brown, Brown Leather, Orange Leather, Sandalwood, Driftwood Brown and Thar Brown from Reaper and Scale75. The Scale paints are very good for drybrushing. Sandalwood is a really creamy colour, which I like a lot. I also use it to highlight Ashen Brown from Reaper for a vague pink-brown colour.

The boat in all its splendor!

Fishing House Boat

Despite the fact that the boat could have had more weathering to it, I’m satisfied with the result! The shack is obviously a toilet, but we thought it as the idea of a person who converted a toilet and added stairs for descending into the hull :-P

I’ve also begun painting the Micro art studios Fish market and extra crates. The scenery pieces are huge, so I might add some minor barrels and such to the pieces to make them appear less gigantic, and so that they can fit into my other market stands. The large crate pile with the dangling fish, came riddled with holes (air bubbles), which requires some heavy modifications, but I think it will end up really cool :) I love the squids!

Fish Stuff

More projects to come and much more minis! Just need to squeeze some photographing into my busy schedule!

Zombicide: Black Plague – More Kickstarter Exclusive Survivors

Phew, it’s been a month already since my last post! So I thought it was about time to put up the last of the kickstarter exclusives.

This is the last 3 of the Kickstarter exclusives I believe!

From left to right we have Gowan (Christopher Lambert as Connor Mcleod from Highlander), Hitch (David Bowie as Jareth the Goblin King from Labyrinth) and Xuxa (Lucy Lawless as Xena the Warrior Princess)

I freehanded the Kilt on Gowan and added some make-up on Hitch to match David Bowie’s makeup in Labyrinth. Xuxa is really bad-ass as she can kill Abomination from the start of a game!

Here’s the original artwork and description of the Survivors:

Next up: My big Fishing Village project, including a boat, warepiles, merchants and more!

Zombicide: Black Plague – Kickstarter Exclusive Survivors… And doors!

Since our puppy is taking a long nap (been at the beach today!) I thought I could squeeze in another post! Have some pictures of Kickstarter Exclusive Survivors and the 3D doors we bought as an add-on ready for a show off :)

Since there is are more than 20 Kickstarter Exclusive Survivors I decided to group some of them up in teams for their picture. I’ve already shown Scowl and Evil Troy, Grom and Thalia, aswell as the Monty Python Ensemble in earlier posts, so here is another 7 Survivors!

7 Survivors Exclusives

From left to right we have Falstaff (Gary Oldman – Dracula), Lady Faye (Kristen Stewart – Snow White and the Huntsman,), Lucas (Liam Neeson – Kingdom of Heaven), James (Sean Connery – In the Name of the Rose) William Bleak (Sean Bean – Lord of the Rings), Troy (Bruce Campbell – Army of Darkness) and Paul (Chris Hemsworth – Snow White and the Huntsman – without beard!)

Also from Snow White and the Huntsman is Queen Madea (Charlize Theron) in a Necromancer version. You can find it in my Kickstarter Necromancer post here.

Iconic Dungeon Doors

The 3D Door set available at retailers, is a great addition to the game as it makes the doors much easier to see! I painted some of the doors Blue and Green to indicate the locked doors. Normal doors are painted various browns. Here is a small selection of the many doors painted for the set (you need a lot for some of the scenarios!)

3D Doors

We seal all our Zombicide Miniatures with an Acrylic Varnish Primer from Vallejo (Spraying them in a fine matte coat) to protect them, as many of them end up in a pile throughout the game. You lose some of the details and vibrant colours when doing so, but I think it’s worth it in the end! Besides, you can always add some highlights and glossy blood afterwards! The doors were no exception and we gave them several layers of varnish to prevent paint chipping off when opening/closing the doors (yes they are fully functioning!)

3D Doors with a view

As you can see, Snow White is ready to invite you in for a snack (the snack being you!) :-D

Stay tuned for more Exclusives!
