Mordheim: Hired Sword and Ostlander

I am currently working on a few miniatures for our Mordheim Campaign. I have assembled 2 Ogre Bodyguards, a Pit Fighter and a Troll Slayer for me and my friends to use during games. All of them in plastic as lending out precious metal miniatures is a bit painful when having an apartment full of people, where minatures on the floor is a common sight. This is the guy from the Plague Cart which I chose not to use for my “The Dead” scenery theme.

Used a black and blue “spectral” colour theme mixed with very pale skin, as I used the miniature for experimenting with colours :-)

This is the Ostlander # 2 Miniature I finished quite a while ago, but thought he deserved to be included in the post :-)

The beard ended up really nice I think :-) still missing a few of the miniatures from the set, though.

Mordheim: Carnival of Chaos Brutes

Been quite a while since my last Mordheim miniature post, and I thought it was about time to add these to the pile!

Nurgle is my all-time favourite Chaos faction and I’ve already painted a huge army for Warhammer Fantasy Battle. It has taken me a while to come up with a colour theme for the Carnival of Chaos Warband. Most of my Nurgle followers are painted in a green colour theme (obviously!) but the Idea that these guys act as strong-men for a circus meant that they should be painted in a more “jolly” theme! I find the purple/dark green theme really creepy and it ended up pretty nice on these two! I also have a small circus tent in these colours to match!

As my Possessed Warband have progressed quite nicely over the last 6 months I thought I would make another warband to fight newcomers in our games :) As I read up on the Carnival of Chaos Warband however, they seemed to be a bit overpowered and the Nurgle’s Rot rule seem way too evil/mean to take out on new players in our group!

My group gave me permission to start a Pirate Warband (mercenaries with pirates), since it is not among the official warbands, but from what I have been reading they are no better than the rest of the Mercenary warbands. The miniatures alone will make the table a lot more fun and colourful! Can’t wait to fight my Husband’s Orc Warband with these :-P

Valeros From Pathfinder RPG

As I have been playing the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game quite a lot over the summer, I thought it was time to present the next hero in line: Valeros!

I spent a great deal of time on painting the details of his face than the rest of the miniature, so the armor didn’t end up as great as the rest. The official artwork picture depicted the armor very brownish, and I thought I’d paint it a bit toned down and not use any metallic paint on the armor. He looks really nice “in person” :-)

I took a few more pictures from different angles!

I have been reading some of the comics aswell and they are great! I thought the official artwork didn’t exactly depict him the same way that the comics and artworks from the rulebook (I’ve played the RPG aswell) So I’m going to show both :-)

I still have a lot of painted Pathfinder miniatures waiting in line, just need time to snap pictures and make posts! Luxury problem for sure :-)

There are 2 versions available from Reaper miniatures, this version and another more dynamic Valeros based on the Rulebook cover.

Zombicide: Black Plague Zombies – Npc Box 1 (Notorious Plagued Characters)

This one is my painted version of the Npc-1 box included in the Kickstarter which you can buy separately pretty soon.

This set includes 20 miniatures: 5 different and 4 of each :-) from left to right we have the Dutch Woman (with clogs of course. She is described officially as a nurse though), the Executioner/Jailor , the medieval Middle-Eastern dude (Moor), Dwarf gone wild, and the oh-so charming Belly Dancer.

The Npc’s are different from other Zombies as they have their own category and spawn cards. However, when you run out of Npc miniatures, you pick from the Walker miniatures and they both have the highest killing priority.

The set also includes 3 Vault cards which was highly needed in my opinion. The reason they are included is because Npc’s are Collectibles in Zombicide. Kill and Collect 5 different Npc’s and you get a Vault card. Since we also have the 3 different Kickstarter Exclusive Npc’s we thought it was a bit of an overkill, so we don’t use the collector method. Instead we think the whole overrun by Walkers scenario is a lot more fun :-P

Expect a very high number of Walkers/Npc’s when using this box (up to 8 Npc’s per spawn card)

Oh, by the way. Npc does not stand for Non-playing-character as it does in most Rpg’s, but rather Notorious Plagued Characters (such as Eddard Stark from the Kickstarter Exclusives, but we’ll get to that :-)

Zombicide: Black Plague Survivors – Kickstarter Exclusives: Grom & Thalia

Woohoo! Now is the time to show off some of all my painted Kickstarter Exclusive minis. The first ones to go are the two Barbarian survivors which are clearly based on Conan and Red Sonja.

Thalia’s stomach looks a bit off on the picture, but not in the hand though! Grom’s sword looks fiery on the artwork, so I went for it on the miniature. Looks kinda neat. Grom’s Barbarian Skill is really useful and incredible when jumping into a group of 10+ zombies! Just dont expect to survive each time :-P The two miniatures have their own little exclusive box, and they ended up looking super sweet together :-D

Since they don’t have an official release box, I thought I’d put in the Kickstarter pledge picture!

Here is the final Special Guest box from the Kickstarter Knight pledge. This one includes miniatures based on artwork from artist Marc Simonetti.

Here we have (from left to right) Cadence, Lady Grimm, Redcap Rodney and Antha!

Antha was quite a challenge as her clothing features many details, and it started out looking horrible with pink, orange, and the whole rainbow basically. Finally nailed it by adding tons of small dots and she looks great in “person” :-) The others were pretty easy to paint. Experimented a bit on Lady Grimm’s armour, adding blue to the mix. She is one of my favourites (mainly because she reminds me of one of my favourite Witcher characters; Ves)

Advertising Pillar!

As I mentioned in my Notice Board post, I also made an advertising pillar using a lot of posters either found online or self-made. The Advertising pillar is from Thomarillion and it has a really good size with loads of space for posters.

donald duck billposterI used Vallejo Satin Varnish on both sides of the paper posters like old time posters! Though a lot more succesful than Donald Duck’s attempt with soup can advertisements!
I simply added layer after layer of small posters, and I’m pretty sure there are shortcuts to this such as full printed sides, but this just gives it such an authentic look!
I actually made two of these as one of them was for my pre-painted section a while ago. It sold the same day :-)

It looks great on our Mordheim table as a terrain piece!

Advertising Pillar

Most of the posters on this side of the pillar is made up of posters from the internet and our cool Ulli & Marquand Wanted posters. The wanted poster is Geralt of Rivia from the Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings!

The Old Timbered House from Tabletop World

I recently posted pictures of the old Merchant’s House and I remembered I was still missing this old timbered house from Tabletop World.

The house is long out of production as it was one of those assembly kits with tons of small bits you had to glue on yourself, including the infamous roof sections, which was madness to both assemble and making the roof suitable for easy access to the full furnished interior.

I am really proud of the result despite painting it years ago. Just like the Merchant’s House, I have never used the interior for gaming sessions.

Added some trees and some of my warepiles for the picture aswell as the cute pile of logs from Ristul’s Extraordinary Market’s Bonfire Set. I can highly recommend everything from their miniature range!

It was a bit hard capturing the mood inside the building as it is really hard to get a decent camera position, but here is a good view into the cottage!

Zombicide: Black Plague Survivors – Special Guest Box: Naïade

Next Zombicide box I have finished painting on the line is from the Special Guest Box with miniatures based on artwork by Naïade.

Here we have (from left to right) Thundergut, Ostokar, Merieil and Milo.

I spent a lot of time painting Ostokar since he is also a necromancer with spawn cards, so in this pack you actually get a free necromancer with special abilities, which is a huge plus since our necromancer cabal consists of up to 6 necromancers (1 from the core game and the 4 we got from Kickstarter exclusives and now this one). Ostokar however, didn’t quite end up as I wanted. His eyes are a bit alienlike and doesn’t match the artwork as much as I wanted. Rest of the miniature looks great, though :-) and he is one of my favourite survivors. The Zombielink is a fun and unpredictable ability!

My husband really had a thing going for that ogre character (tee-hee :-P) and he quickly became his favorite, though I still can’t fathom how that guy is supposed to move through doorways. But I thought I’d make an extra effort into painting it. It worked out really well and it ended up awesome, I think :-D
