Merisiel From Pathfinder RPG

Time for the next hero in line! This one is Merisiel – the badass Elven Rogue from Pathfinder RPG and Pathfinder Adventure Card Game – which I have played a lot throughout the summer, most recently this last weekend where we finished yet another campaign of Skull & Shackles!

Merisiel 1

I fought very hard completing all the miniatures we used in the first instalment of the card game and we were almost finished by the time I completed this mini. She now stands side-by-side with the numerous other Pathfinder Characters I have painted :)

Painted her with ashen hair which is always hard! And very pale skin to resemble her artwork.

Merisiel 4

The miniature was sculpted by Chris Fitzpatrick and is one of two versions, the other being the other more dynamic posed Merisiel sculpted by Patrick Keith.

Stone Troll – Golden Jewelry Style!

I really love those old metal Stone Trolls from Games Workshop. They bring so much character and perfectly resembles the stupid trolls from the fantasy battle edition. They were initially part of my husband’s Christmas presents last year, and he plans to make a diorama at some point.

Bling Bling Troll

They are really a joy to paint. My husband requested the vivid blue colours he remembers from when he was a kid and had just started the hobby.

This is the first one I have painted so far and I thought it would be fun to paint the trolls as individual characters. This one is very proud of his stolen jewelry and he constantly shows them off to his inferior troll buddies!

He was mounted on a rocky base and I painted the weapon as a stone aswell, ’cause you know, he’s a Stone troll!

Zombicide: Black Plague Survivors – Monty Python Ensemble – Kickstarter Exclusives

More Survivors coming up!

Here are the obvious Monty Python inspired survivors from the Zombicide: Black Plague – Kickstarter Exclusive box. I used both the artwork from their character cards and photos from “Monty Python and the Holy Grail” to make up the colour for their armor and tabards. Sadly there was no space on poor Sir Robin (or Sir Robin the Not-Quite-So-Brave-as-Sir Lancelot ) for his iconic fleeing chicken heraldry he dons on both tabard and shield. But I did end up satisfied with the green/white pattern :-)

Monty Python Ensemble

To show the simularities, I placed them in the same order as the classic photo from the film (see below)

Monty Python

From left to right we have Montalban (Brave Sir Robin), Gilbert (Sir Bedevere), Mortimer (King Arthur), Chauncey (Sir Lancelot) and finally Beauregard (Sir Galahad the Pure).

Sir Bedevere’s helmet and feather was really spot on and very fun to paint. Only downpoint is the fact that they are still just plastic minis with many mould-lines and little detail, as “master” casts of these minis in detailed resin would have been awesome to paint!

The characters have various simularities with their Python counterparts such as Montalban’s (Sir Robin) Hit & Run ability and Chauncey’s (Lancelot) Frenzy ability (like when he slaughters a wedding party in the movie) and Mortimer’s (King Arthur) Born Leader talent.

Last but not least a group picture featuring Bob (Tim the Enchanter) who also got to be part of the set!

Monty Heroes

All in all a really cool bunch of minis. Still a lot more left from the Kickstarter set to show off! So stay tuned :-)

Freebooter Miniatures: Battitora Goth Version

I’m an avid collector of many miniature lines and ranges, and Freebooter’s Brotherhood is one of those. I have painted around 20 of the Brotherhood miniatures (some products come with 2 minis). I love their assassins and they are regulars in our Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay (WFRP) sessions. This one (from a set of 2 miniatures: Battitora & Harlequin) was painted a lot different than the official miniature but I like the punk look she has, and as a metal-head she fits my style :-D

Punk Assassin

For some reason I can’t remember, I didn’t apply tattoos to her skin though they would have fitted perfectly! I even painted outrageous eyeliner and dark lipstick :-P she looks like a mean no-patience character and will do just fine in the streets of Middenheim!

Tabletop World’s Townhouse III – Spooky House Edition!

As mentioned in a previous post I wanted to make my own version of a spooky house. I was inspired by an old Ravensburger boardgame (one I had as a kid) and since I have 2 of Townhouse 3 lying around I figured it was worth an experiment :-D

Tabeletop World - Spooky House

The trees are 4 Ground’s Mature Fir Trees which has been put to good use for our sessions. The dead tree is from Tabletop World. The cute log pile is from Ristul’s.

I painted it mostly in dark brown colours starting with Muddy Soil from Reaper paints and highlighting my way up to Dark Shadow and Brown Sand. The reds are Clotted Red and highlighted with Mahogany Brown also from Reaper. My husband added some moss tufts in recesses of the roof.

Here are a few more pictures. I included the Mordheim Witch to the pictures as she fits right in! Which/Witch :) reminds me that I need to put her up on the blog with her own post!

Mordheim Terrain: Ruined Streets

We are still in the process of expanding our Mordheim terrain, and at some point it would be nice to only make use of ruins and not normal houses. We have finished quite a few ruins lately but to make it even more gloomy we also made some street terrain!

Ruined Streets

The pieces are made of a plastic card bottoms based with various old weapons, debris, Games Workshop Terrain pieces, skulls and small bricks. We even stuffed the cavalry base from Ludwig Schwartzhelm into the road sign piece. (Which is decorated with names of Middenheim street names)

Here are some more pictures:

They look great on the gaming board along with all the other ruins and warepiles!

The Dead: Human Corpses

Here are some more additions to my The Dead Collection I use for Mordheim and our RPG’s. I do have several of the metal official Mordheim casualties, but metal miniatures without a base is asking for chipped paint! So I had some old militia plastic bandits lying around from the time I wasn’t as good at painting.

I viciously cut them into pieces and bent/twisted their limbs (while laughing menacingly!!) Then glued them together and gave them a new paint job.

Human Corpses

Despite the awkward positions, they ended up pretty good. Though I guess not everyone dies gracefully :-)

I made some Skaven corpses out of very old plastic miniatures aswell. Just like the human corpses, assembling them to make it look realistic, is not as easy as it looks. But I’ll see if I can get some pictures of them aswell.

Beastmen: Centigors

I have been painting all kinds of outdoors beasts and monsters, which will be part of our newly begun adventure campaign, that takes place outside of Middenheim. As our heroes are escorted by an accountant on her way to Dorfmark (City in Nordland), we are quickly thrown into a political scandal involving a suspicious Burgomeister and numerous raids on local lumber mills. The raiders are humans, but something sinister lurks in the shadows and the beasts are on the prowl in the Forest of Shadows. Several twists have already taken place (despite only 2 sessions!) so I have been busy painting all kinds of beasts for the sessions (as I don’t know for sure which ones will be used as I am not the GM)

Here are some of the larger Centaur creatures of the Beastmen Herd: Centigors

Centigors 1

I had fun painting these and I went through a lot finding them in good condition and of course in metal, but I ended up with a bargain on Ebay, so everything went smooth in the end. I actually have 2 spare ones as I ended up purchasing a whole set in its original box. As these are heavier than they look, there was no way I could mount them on top of scenic bases, so I had to make my own using very fine sand, rocks and foliage. My husband is the base master, so I let him decorate them. I asked for a forest look in mainly green colours and I got exactly what I wanted.

Here are a few more pictures of these cool creatures:

I painted them in different colours, as I spent some time experimenting (as usual) I like the “Ginger” one best, that’s the one in the middle. I also experimented on their horns. It worked better on some than others, but from a distance it looks awesome and they look very frightening on a gaming board with forest scenery!

Oh and the original metal figures had ridiculously small shield attached, so I filed/cut them off and put on shields from the Ungor sprue, and it really helped the overall look.

Here is an official Games Workshop picture with “small shield” versions:

Centigors 4

Classic Warhammer Wizard Miniatures: Grey and Amber

Here are two of my classic wizards from my collection. I have finally managed to collect all the miniatures from the citadel line counting: Light, Amethyst, Gold, Celestial, Bright, Jade and these two (Grey & Amber)

Here is the Grey wizard, a master of deception in all his glory!

Grey Wizard

And here we have the Amber wizard, a rural caster with close ties to the realm of beasts and other wildlife:

Amber Wizard

Despite the fact that these miniatures are very old (about 1990) and they all have the same pose, they are still really cool and it has been a lot of fun to try and capture their specific wind and painting them to my best effort! I haven’t finished all of them, but looking forward to getting them on the blog when I get there :-)

Commission Completed!

Finished and sent this amazing group of miniatures last week to a loyal customer from Spain! This has been the most demanding commission so far and it took me quite a while to finish, but I am proud of the results! :-)

Here is an overall picture of the commission!

Commission 1

I don’t dare to think about how long the work took, but each miniature took me around 2,5-5 hours, so a looong time :-P

Here are some of the heavy-weights (both in size and time spent on painting them)

Ogres

The Ogre Butchers took a long time to paint and the one on the right was made of metal, which proved to be very hard on my wrist. The first one however, was resin/finecast and a lot more easy to handle. The right hands of the miniatures had magnets inserted, so different weapons could be attached, which is pretty clever. I painted 2 additional halberd/swords for those.

Here are some of the Tomb Kings miniatures from the commission:

Tomb Kings 1

They ended up looking really cool, and I kept the colours in the same theme. Even though they are mummies I painted them pale so they could serve next to skeletons without standing out.

Here are the Mummies together with a bunch of skeletons I painted in the same theme.

Tomb Kings 2

These very detailed Khorne Blood Warriors were part of the challenge. They serve as evil warriors in a more subtle colour theme, though still loaded with details.

Blood Warriors

Last but not least I received this Age of Sigmar Liberator (I believe it is) which has a marauder head replacement and meant to look like a barbarian. Due to the futuristic look the Sig”marines” have, I had to work my way around it and make him more medieval :-)

Barbarian

I experimented a bit with Scale75 metal paints (Added Reaper black paint to S75 Heavy Metal) since I only had light metal colours at my disposal, but I think he ended up pretty nice :-)

Also painted a few Snake critters for this pack just like I did with the Lizards on the last Commission.
