Food Supplies Terrain from Ristul’s Market

I’m a huge fan of Ristul’s Extraordinary Market and their unique and quirky minis (as I have mentioned before!) and I recently decided to paint their Food Supplies Terrain. The set looks really great and in my opinion, outshines the Tabletop World Grocery set, which looks great on the table and when setting up a quick market place, but the scale is more of 32-35mm than 25-28mm that I use with my miniatures. There is also lot of customization in Ristul’s since you can combine it with the Food Supplies Basing Kit, and make your own unique Market Stands :-)

It takes quite a lot of time to paint, but the result is beautiful! And I’m really honored that Radek from Ristul’s chose to use it as main product picture! And coincidentally their top seller :-D

I’m halfway through their Road Signs that are going to fit right into my Mordheim table!

Christmas Diorama 2016 – WIP #5

Almost finished with the Christmas Diorama! Well it is actually finished, but we need to snap the last photos of it! It looks great!

But here is one of the last things I’ve painted for the Diorama, the Christmas Elf Mistress (Mrs. Claus’ friend) Added a few photos below! Stay tuned for a final post about the finished Diorama!

Naughty Commission Piece – Joan the Captive

As the headline says, I recently completed a commissioned miniature for an Italian customer! The miniature is from Russian company Brother Vinni, who creates a lot of female miniatures with questionable professions and more than a few minis with a more or less tragic post-war destiny (slaves, ahemm). Their miniatures are beautiful, detailed and well… naked :-P This one is Joan the Captive.

I painted this one as a convicted witch on her way to an unknown destiny (most likely accompanied by a witch hunter) Even though she has been through a rough time, she might still have a trick up her sleeve before she arrives at the stake!

I painted her dress as if it was made of vibrant silks and freehanded a few details. The skin is always tricky, but she ended up pretty good and she looks great in real “life” :-) I spent a lot of time on her eyes making them very bright and noticible. I added a few shades of green to her eyes for a more intense look!

Painted with Reaper MSP and Scale75 paints. Base is Stonefloor 25mm from Tabletop-art with a few Gamer’s Grass tufts. (cut up a few tufts to make them smaller to better suit the base)

Mordheim: Possessed – Alternative Female Possessed!

I’m way behind posting pictures of my Mordheim Warband, but I recently finished this female Possessed for my Warband. As I thought it was funny to make the prominent members (Possessed and Magister) female, I wanted one of my Possessed creatures as a kinky Daemonette! Even though they are usually Slaanesh and my Warband is Tzeentch I painted her a little different than the Daemonettes from my Daemon army.

I experimented a lot on pale skin colors on this one and it took quite some time. I used a mix of Ashen Brown from Reaper (highly recommend this smooth and at the same time, weird color) and some pale Scale75 paints to work up the skintones. It’s much easier to see “in person” than on the pictures! Added some black with classic Tzeentch colors so she would match the rest of the warband.

I believe she is from the huge Slaanesh chariot which I never seem to get finished. So I borrowed her for my Warband and added her on a base from Escenorama which is cool but a lot of them are loaded with air “bubbles” which requires some work. It’s okay on buildings because you see them from a certain distance.

The women in my Warband are surprisingly tough, since I seem to lose a male hero just about every time we have Mordheim days at our home. Yes, I am the master of low rolls when it comes to hero recovery :-(
Unlike my husband with his Orc Warband who creates a new mini when he loses one, I’m rather lazy when I lose a hero. I just use the same mini when I buy a new hero for my roster!

The Monstrous Dire Wolf of the Dark Emissary

I couldn’t wait getting this one up on the blog! This is the Monstrous Direwolf from our Nordland campaign! I already used Dire Wolf as description on another wolf, but this is so much bigger, so “monstrous” had to do :)

The miniature is from Micro Arts Studio, but it looks like it’s no longer in production. Basicks picked up producing them, but seems like they closed down or something. Shame since the wolf is so cool. He will probably end up being a lone gigantic wolf. And he just died in our Nordland Campaign. Does that mean monstrous wolves are extinct?

He is mounted on a 50mm lipped round base from Scibor modified with extra slate for length extension (fancy expression for a fancy wolf) Here he is next to the other Direwolf and side by side with Direwolf and Lesser Wolves:

As you can see he is huge compared to the others. I can see now that it looks like a wolf family with mom, dad and “cubs”, so here is a picture of the whole “family” :-P

More about the Dark Emissary Here. The Wolf Pack, the Warg used as the “normal” Dire Wolf and the Windfall bases used, can be found in my shop at KingGames.dk. Every time I find a cool product or I paint and recommend a mini, I order it for the shop aswell. Sadly the biggest wolf is out of production :-/

Wolf Pack – Minions of the Dark Emissary

I already did a post about the Dire Wolf of the Dark Emissary and this here is the minor wolves we have used as minions and henchmen in our RPG sessions. The wolves are all made by Reaper Miniatures and a joy to paint.

The 3 wolves in the background is the Wolf Pack from Reaper  and the front champion wolf is actually the Leryn the pet of Adowyn from Pathfinder. I only needed the Adowyn as miniature for our Pathfinder Adventure Card Game. The bases are the Windfall 32mm bases from Kromlech.

Citadel Travelling “dramatic pause”…… Actor!

I painted this mini some time ago, but I thought this gentleman deserved his own post!
Let me introduce the flamboyant and extravagant Actor!

Traveling Actor

I mainly paint in subtle base colors with spot colors now and then, and rarely practice true bright colors, as they tend to look… messy. Atleast when I’m painting them!
I had just bought a few bright paints and wanted to test them on this old travelling player: actor.
I have already painted the St. George miniature which was a ton of fun to paint, so I decided to paint the actor really dashing with an arrogant attitude (my inspiration was Calculon of Futurama – the self proclamed best actor in the universe) and I even added an actor mole! The result is a fruitcake of dimensions!

As most old citadel miniatures (this is probably from the 80’s before I was born) the scale is a small 25mm, but they still fit into our 28mm game perfectly. I can completely imagine this guy storming the stage and pushing any hopeful and aspiring new actor to the ground!
