Vermintide Stormvermin and Plague Monks

As a big fan of the Vermintide franchise I thought that I would find and paint some of the awesome Warhammer Skaven models from Games Workshop that appear in the video games!

Storm Vermin in the streets of Ubersreik

First off we have 7 storm vermin (more than enough for our own Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay campaign) and 3 Clanrats. I painted them with a mix of citadel paints and Reaper miniatures paint. Background is Tabletop World buildings (the walls and a little shed from the bridge terrain) along with some Dunkeldorf cobblestone bases and accessories.

Vicious crazed plague monks!

Next off we have the fearsome Plague Vermin which are always quite a challenge in the game! I really love the one with the “fly eyes” as Nurgle has blessed these rats with plenty of buboes and mutations!

At the moment I’m working on a skaven gunner, globadier, warpfire thrower and a great big Stormfiend! But with my speed it will take a while to finish them all :D

More Pictures of the Merchant House

The last pictures, this time around, of the massive Merchant House from Tabletop-World.

The attic is filled with goods and delicious treats!

The attic was very fun to do, and all the warepiles really add to the atmosphere of the house! My favourite part of painting the warepiles, was painting the fruit and lettuce in particular! It took ages though, but hopefully we will have use of these for other things in our RPG sessions.
The warepiles are from Tabletop World, Tabletop-Art, Fenryll and Ristul’s creations – now sold and cast by Annie from Bad Squiddo!

The office of the rich merchant.

This is the office of the rich merchant! I used some of my favourite furniture I painted recently, including the cozy chair from the Mantic Terrain Crate – Wizard Study, the desk and large cupboard from Zealot Miniatures, chest from HQ-resin, and two small cupboards from Tabletop-World. The one with the shield is an old one and came exclusively from their old discontinued Blacksmith. The candelabra is from Thomarillion, and I really like this one, because it can stand reasonably well on its own!

I have so many exciting things to show, and hopefully I will have more time soon to show off more of my recent projects! Including my Dungeons and Dragons miniature (I am making a monster menagerie!!)

I have a ton of pictures on my Instagram profile! So check it out and follow my page for more goodies! :)

More Pictures of the Merchant House

I thought it would be fun to create a children’s room in the Merchant House, so I found a bunch of bits I have had lying around since beginning of time (or the hobby, hehe) This is the 3rd floor of the house

I used a few helmets from the old Bretonnia Knights including a dragon’s head and a unicorn, which I HAD to paint as a rainbow unicorn!

The merchant’s daughter walking around in her own room at her father’s shop.

The companies used were Malifaux (old metal orphanage basing kit, which is AWESOME!) Retro Kids room accessories from HQresin, Fenryll, Tabletop-world, Games Workshop, Zealot Miniatures and Thomarillion.

Top view of the spoiled daughter’s room

I painted all the toys a little bit creepy aswell, since I need them for Blinsky’s Toy shop from our Curse of Strahd campaign (Dungeons and dragons) I also painted Blinsky with his pet monkey Piccolo :)

The room next to the daughter’s room is a storage room with another balcony to watch over the city!

Next up is pictures of the attic and the office on the 2nd floor!

Tabletop World: Merchant’s House

Update: Pledge Manager is LIVE and if you missed the Dunkeldorf Kickstarter, Late Pledges/Pre-orders are up now until mid June!

LINK: https://dunkeldorf.backerkit.com

After a long time working on the Dunkeldorf Kickstarter, which was a huge success and far better than we anticipated, I have had some time to work on my big Merchant House which I used to enter Tabletop World’s annual painting competition.

I entered last year with the “Alluring Sisters (Witchcraft Coven)” which, to my big surprise, won first place in the single building category!

And I’m very proud to announce that once again, my entry into the competition, The Merchant Family, won 1st place again!
I was stunned when I received the news and very, very happy, as this project is the biggest I have done so far!

Front of the building, with the merchant watching over his customers from his balcony!
Top view of the large building! All the window shutters and doors are fully functional!

This by far the biggest building I have ever worked on!
All the exterior and all the interior of the 4 floor buildings!
And I was lucky to receive a helping hand from my husband, otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to make it in time!
Everything, except the Dunkeldorf Miniatures and some of the office furniture was painted specifically for this project!
I felt that the warepiles I had in my collection didn’t match the standard I wanted for this house, so I ended up painting a lot of warepiles. I actually ended up painting more than was needed for this project. Let’s just say I won’t be making anymore warepiles for quite a while!!

I have another bunch of pictures from the Merchant House, I will be showing off in another update, so stay tuned! :-D

Forest Goblin Village – Part Two: The Spider Heist

Time for the second part of my Forest Goblin Village! In the first post I showed off a diorama with a brave goblin stealing cobwebs from a bunch of nasty red spiders.

Now the goblins need the spiderlings aswell! This time for breeding vicious pets to attack trespassers. An even more dangerous “job” and a brave warrior is doing his best to tackle the spider.

Goblin Camp - Spider Attack

As you can see, there are already several unfortunate goblin victims. I guess the spiders don’t like giving away their babies!

Lots of cool terrain pieces were used for this diorama! The spider cobwebs and spiderlings are from Ristul’s, the totem (with the evil eyes!) is from Scibor, the crooked tree is part of a larger tree from Tabletop-World and the goblin carrying the spider aswell as the unfortunate goblins strapped unto the log are from Games Workshop’s Arachnarok Spider set.

Next up is a hut! And I’m going to list the paints I used for the spiders, the webs and the goblins!

Quick update!

Jeez, it’s been almost a month since my last post! Long story short; Commissions, pre-painted launch, and a week with a throat infection. So nothing super exciting! Today is my first no-more-sick-day, which means I can finally do some painting! Got so many exciting things on my paint station! Just need some finishing touches and photos of course.

Oh, and my package from Tabletop World (from the competition gift certificate) arrived while I was sick with the fever, so that was a really nice surprise!

I bought a few extra accessories now that the shipping was free :)

20180524_091455

Finally got my Windmill, Noble Townhouse, Cottage II and a bunch of River Sections! Oh, and my dog insisted on being in the picture. She likes being the center of attention.. always! So we can say she is a size reference!

Now that I was at it, I thought I’d add all my unpainted Tabletop-World stuff to the table, so I could (hopefully) be inspired to start painting some of it. But oh boy…

Brunnhilde with Buildings

I managed to prime the city walls a few weeks ago, so I’m planning on painting them this week! Still missing Merchant’s Shop, Watermill (to the left behind the townhouse), Fortified Tower (in the background) along with Townhouse III, Ruined Townhouse (already painted one of those) Hmm the only thing I don’t have from Tabletop World is the Wizard’s tower. Decided it was way too big for any display case. Maybe for Christmas, who knows :-P

Again, my dog thought it was all about her.

The Alluring Sisters (Witchcraft Coven)

Update: I won 1st place! Still haven’t fully processed it, and I’m in complete awe! But can’t wait to spend the €300!
Big thanks to Tabletop-World!

Okay, so recently we decided we would join the annual Tabletop World competition with a building in their single building category (there is also diorama) and we decided their Townhouse II as our entry.

Since their houses are barely 28mm scale, we chose some miniatures from Dark Sword’s George R.R. Martin Masterworks (Game of thrones) miniature line. Tom Meier doesn’t sculpt in heroic scale like Reaper, Games Workshop and Dark Sword’s other lines (heroic scale is larger heads/larger hands etc) and his miniatures tend to be a tad bit smaller than the other sculpters, so they fit perfectly into the building. For the interior we chose Irri – Handmaid and Female Courtesan, and for the bottom of the building sitting on boxes we chose Female Mage on Stairs sculpted by Patrick Keith, and she is quite bigger than the other 2 ladies, but we figured it wouldn’t matter :)

It’s the first time I ever take part in a painting competition, and I have no hopes what so ever of winning, but as I wrote in a previous post, you get 20% discount code just for participating :D which I will need for my river terrain board.

TheAlluringSisters01

It actually started out as just being 3 beautiful women in a house, but when my husband decided it needed a bench with a book on the balcony, the only book that looked good was a book with a chaos star symbol on it. And so the story of the Alluring Sisters were born! They are actually witches luring men into their cozy townhouse which always smells like fresh baked pies (wonder what is inside the pies!!)

It wasn’t initially part of the plan to paint the interior, but we decided it would be cool to show the theme of the project. So first off is the middle floor with a nice desk and furniture from Tabletop World, a large candleholder from Tabletop-Art, a Grandfather Clock from Zealot Miniatures and a cat from the set Edna, the Crazy Cat Lady from Reaper Miniatures.

Last but not least, the attic! We all have a creepy attic ;) and these ladies sure know how to decorate the top room of the house!

My husband really outdid himself with the altar! He used a ton of skulls for the base and half a table from Grendel for the altar. Book, candlesticks and most of the skulls are from Tabletop-art.
The wooden spikes are from Grendel aswell and the chain/heads are from our bits boxes.
I had a blast painting the altar, the summoning circle and the small table. The walls are painted with a mouldy effect, which gives the room a very eerie look!

We really wanted to paint the bottom room of the building too with a cauldron full of meaty bits and fresh baked pies, but we ran out of time and finished the day before the competition, so maybe some other time, who knows :-)

A Larder Shelf fit for a king! (or anyone who enjoys food!)

Just thought I’d squeeze in this little gem I finished painting a little while ago! I’m really proud of this one and it looks amazing on the table. I’ve been trying to clean out my miniatures, and replace the standard pieces with highly detailed and converted versions, and this is one of them!

shelf_aug_01

The shelf and broom are from Thomarillion, the flasks and barrel are from Fenryll, the pouch of plums (to the left of the shelf) and the package on top are from Tabletop-World. The baskets and letuce box on the bottom are from Ristuls Workshop, the middle boxes are from Fredericus Rex, and the pile of goods in the bottom and the sack on the left is from Baueda miniatures. So a lot of customizing and a whole lot of time included in this one. My husband picked out the parts and assembled this beauty and I painted it. It took much longer than anyone would expect, but it looks great in real life!

Old Blacksmith’s Forge from Tabletop World

Finally managed to snap some pictures of my old Blacksmith’s Forge from Tabletop World. This is their second version of a Blacksmith and is sadly no longer available. This was one of those do-it-yourself kits that took 10 hours to assemble, using hot water for bended parts (mine even arrived with broken pillars) and gluing the thing together.

This was my 3rd Tabletop World building and the first one where I didn’t paint interior, since lifting the roof included lifting the pillars on the stairs, and they were so fragile that I glued to whole thing together.
The older models included a bunch of furniture and accessories, so those were used for a lot of different projects! The new easy-assemble models are much less of a headache but doesn’t come with furniture and accessories. Which is totally fine by me :-) I really prefer the new models “assembling-wise”.

Since this was my 3rd painted Tabletop World building, a lot has changed since then! I probably would have painted it different now, but I rarely repaint my old painted terrain as it’s also fun to see how much I have progressed.

It might be hard to see it from the picture, but Tabletop World’s buildings were a whole lot larger back then. Somewhere down the line, the buildings shrunk to a 25mm scale (tops) for miniatures which is a shame, but they still look awesome :-) I actually started out with painting the interior of the rather new Town Gate, but the miniatures looked like giants and even without base they were still atleast a head taller than the doorways! You don’t notice that at all from the outside though! Which is why I usually resort to gluing everything together.

Only exception is the Guard Tower (it’s an old DIY kit that they revived as an easy-to-assemble version) I painted the interior of the wooden floor (the one with arrowslits) and furnished it with armor and weapon racks. But again, it’s an old model and the scale of that one is 28-30mm.

Townhouse from Tabletop World

For some reason I never got around to make a post about the Townhouse from Tabletop World, even though the house has been up on Coolminiornot.com for quite a while. So here is a late post about the awesome small but detailed building :-)

Townhouse

The pigs in the picture are from Lead Adventure and are very cute! One is a female and the other a male (they have detailed lady and gentleman parts!) The house is one of the easy assemble ones. It comes in only two parts with detailed interior. As usual I chose to glue the thing together, since it’s rather hard to furnish properly (proportionally it’s the size of a small shed or outhouse) :-P

It only took me a day to paint this as there were few demanding details (I had already painted Mr and Mrs Pig) so I’m quite proud of the result! This was painted shortly after the Coaching Inn, so I repeated the red roof on this one. I have tried to mix the roof colours so it doesn’t look too messy on the game board, but it isn’t as easy as it looks. Still have too many blue roofs! (Town Gate and Guard Tower each have a blue roof)

Stay tuned for more Tabletop World buildings!
