Freebooter Legend: Antoinette

This is one of the limited miniatures that were only available for purchase for a year I believe, from Freebooter Miniatures. It was part of their anniversary and was featured in their Indiegogo campaign.

She is depicted as a drunkard with loads of bottles in the artwork and I think it shows through on the miniature!

I highly regret not backing the project but I didn’t notice it before it was too late :-(  I have been scouting eBay ever since without luck…
I do have the normal box set which this chick is in, along with all the singles. So far this is the only one of them I have painted. I would much rather paint the enhanced versions which came with Indiegogo, but oh well.

I’m not quite sure if I like the way she turned out. Was a pretty experimental experience with the fragile colours, but she definately ended up looking unique compared to my other minis. I really try not to limit my painting range too much. Sometimes, however, they end up a little too unique :-P

Helja the Runesmith

In the great Knobelsdorf Society of Middenheim there are people of many nationalities, gender and race. As a place of learning and the occasional adventure hooks, I thought it was about time to introduce our local Runesmith Helja which just recently entered our sessions. She is a formidable dwarf with a keen knowledge and she is quite an experienced fighter.

I really love this miniature and I think Werner Klocke did a great job. Female dwarves don’t always get the best treatment from sculptors.

I painted her in warm red and purple colours with a messy blacksmith’s apron (she works a lot!). Here are a few more pictures:

Frostgrave has Arrived!

As a fan of Mordheim I was eager to find out what the “big deal” with Frostgrave was. More than a few customers have mentioned it during the last few months and we finally got the whole shabang this week.

Very exciting miniatures and I’ve already opened up a box of Frostgrave Soldiers, which is very simular to Games Workshop’s now recent discontinued Empire Free Company (only a bit warmer dressed). It was only a matter of time since their great success with Age of Sigmarines (sarcasm may apply), killed all the previous and beloved lore and all the heroes within :*-(

Luckely I managed to reserve my copies of Bretonnia and Empire sets a while ago, along with metal versions on Ebay. Hardly anyone will miss their Finecast miniatures anyway! ;-)

Back to Frostgrave!

The rulebook is really cool with tons of amazing artwork which I always find intriguing! And I like the idea of a sorcerer as leader with apprentice and hired soldiers. I do play Possessed after all, so I might take a look at those cool cultist miniatures!

Travelling Empire Merchant

A little month ago I made a post about a Forge World miniature that I had converted into a travelling merchant a character that fits right into the Warhammer universe – He’s carrying a bunch of junk he’s hoping to sell. You can see the WIP post here: WIP: Travelling Empire Merchant

I finished painting the miniature recently and I’m very happy with the result. I’m sure he’ll often be taken out to stroll the streets in our WFRP sessions.
With all the extra details added to the miniature he did end up taking quite some time to finish – but for a unique model I don’t mind it at all :-)

Runebound 3rd Edition – Painted Miniatures

After trying out the game with unpainted miniatures and with old painted versions of the miniatures from Descent 1st edition, I finally came about painting the heroes of Runebound 3rd Edition. I painted them to resemble their respected artwork and I ended up very satisfied with the result!

I admit, I spent most time painting the 2 female heroes (or heroines) but the rest turned out pretty neat aswell :) they are probably 25mm scale or less (mounted on small 20mm round bases)

As I’ve written in the “About” section on my website, I am already a very avid fan of the new Runebound game and can highly recommend it. I know there are mixed reviews and the primary critique is that the game is kind of a “skeleton” since it is made for the purpose of expansions to really fulfill the game. But my husband and I have probably played it about 20+ times and still haven’t gotten completely tired of it. We would, however love new heroes and campaigns and eagerly awaits news from FFG (Fantasy Flight Games)
Only downside for us is the limited number of dice and the fragile counters. The counters will fortunately soon be available for individual purchase :)

Mutant – Enemy Within Campaign

Been chasing this mini online for about a year and suddenly he popped up on eBay! And I just had to own him no matter the cost! Fortunately for me, there wasn’t much competition and I got him far cheaper than i anticipated. Because I mean, who doesn’t go all out on tentacled mutants!?

Tentacle Mutant

He is from the campaign Enemy Within for Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay first edition, so this mini is older than me! He only has a minor role in the Death on the Reik book, and was back then described as a Beastmen (before the (in)famous chaos goatmen claimed the title) He appeared along with some other characters of questionable appearances in an ambush on the ship I was sailing and he was a very memorable character. Here is a picture from the book along with the other assailants.

Mutant Artwork

I decided to paint him in a more recent mutated state, as he is still wearing his nobleman clothes in pristine colours. As if he has just sprouted fish feet and tentacle-arms!
The tentacles were a challenge to paint though as there were very little details and I had to freehand most of the tentacle’s “suckers” ;-)

Here are a few more pictures of the dashing gentleman who has yet to appear in our Middenheim Campaign (though I have heard rumours!)

 

WIP: Travelling Empire Merchant

I decided to convert a Forge World miniature (Manann’s Blade musician) to a Travelling Empire Merchant – I spent a while adding LOTS of parts, you can’t actually see it that well in the pictures how much I added, but it’s a lot! He’ll be used in the WFRP campaign, so expect to see him painted soon :-)

Witcher Miniature from Andrea

Witcher - Geralt ArtworkI had bought the White Wolf / Witcher / Geralt miniature from Andrea Miniatures long ago – But it wasn’t until recently that I finally finished the miniature that had been collecting dust for at least three years. The model is quite obviously based on the Geralt look from Witcher 1, which you can see on the artwork picture from Witcher 1.

Even though it’s based on Witcher 1, I still had some problems seeing much resemblance – The armor/clothing doesn’t appear to be based on any artwork or outfit from the game. The face ended up being okay however. Overall I didn’t enjoy painting this one that much, so I did rush some of the parts a bit. But in the end I’m still satisfied with the final result.
